C. Carey Cloud » Cracker Jack » Magic Speller Game


In 1946, C. Carey Cloud created the Magic Speller Game for Cracker Jack. Printed on cardstock, measuring 2½" wide, by 1⅝" high, which is attached by a grommet to a 1½" wheel. Typical of a C. Carey Cloud paper prize, it is printed with red and green ink.  When both inks are combined they create brown, which is seen in the boy's hair, pants, and stool, as well as the girl's skirt.

The Magic Speller Game is played by turning the wheel, as the picture is displayed below, the word is spelled on top of the wheel. The Magic Speller Game spells dog, chair, pig, doll, and fish, all are shown below.
